The Messengers

Messengers are ethereal beings who try to help those in need.

Some say that there is a war between good and evil which encompasses the entire Earth. Others, not so Earth-centric claim that the war extends throughout the entire Universe. I do not know for sure which faction is correct, but evidence of the war is all around us.

The war is fought by ethereal energy beings who can sometimes become corporal, but are mostly unseen by humanity. The Messengers and Infidels who inhabit the Earth are recruited from the souls of humans who for some reason were not yet done with their time on the solid plane of existence.

· Generally recruited from souls to volunteer to remain on an Earthly plane to assist other souls that are still encompassed (trapped) within a human.
· Messengers tend to bond or be assigned to one human at a time. When bonding occurs, there is a small burst of energy passed between the two. The Human can become light-headed momentarily.

· Messengers are not supposed to interfere in the lives of their bonded humans unless the need is great.

· Not angels. Sometimes confused with ghosts.

· Can use their energy to become corporal for brief periods of time. When fully solid and visible to all, they will glow with a soft yellow-gold light. No Wings! When not quite solid they can be seen/heard only by the one who they are communicating with, and will also glow but not so brightly.

· Can make themselves heard by one person as a soft whisper, or just a thought within one’s mind.

· When seen, they can be heard speaking in a normal voice, or can megaphone voice when desired if visible to all.

· When seen, they generally take a shape that they had when alive. For young Messengers this will of course be limited to anywhere between baby like and when they died. For Messengers that lived a longer life, the range is greater, but they still tend to choose the shape they had when the died.

· Generally seek out humans who need counsel and attempt to guide them to the greater good.

· Communicate with other Messengers via a group thought process.

· When meeting in their plane of existence, it is everywhere but nowhere. Not heaven.

· Messengers can temporarily banish Infidels by emitting a flash of the same energy that they use to become corporal.

· There is a Review Board that will examine Messenger actions to see if they are appropriate.

· The Academy is a place where Acolyte Messenger are trained. They have a sensor which notifies when need is strong.

· Messengers represent all religions and generally dress in a manner related to that religion, i.e. Muslin hajib, etc.

The Infidels

Infidels are ethereal beings who try to harm, confuse, aggravate others.

· Generally recruited from souls that met a horrible end, such as torture, or something very painful.

· The name given to the Schpecktotlechtmeem (Not their real name but a close approximation to their alien-originated name, some of the sounds of which cannot be created or heard by humans.)

· Not devils, or demons. Sometimes confused with poltergeists. May be the reason for stories about devils and demons.

· Generally ugly, human shaped beings, when seen, with things growing where there should be nothing growing. Unlike Messengers who almost always take a shape related to what they were when alive, Infidels have had their energy so corrupted by their deeds, that it cannot hold their prior shape for long, so they can briefly look normal, but then revert to their current foul shape.

· Enjoy causing confusion, our other troubles to the living.
